Stardew Valley's multiplayer update releases next month

Eric Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, has announced that the game's long-awaited Multiplayer Update will arrive on August 1st on PC, Mac and Linux.

Stardew Valley has quickly become a modern classic amongst PC and console gamers, offering similar gameplay to older Harvest Moon titles with a large string of updates continuously adding new content to the game.

The game's upcoming Multiplayer Update will not differ much from today's multiplayer beta, aside from the addition of bug fixes and other minor improvements. The update will allow owners of the game to host up to three other players, enabling co-operative gameplay through the creation of cabins for each additional player.

Additional story elements were also added as part of the multiplayer beta, which will be added to the full game on August 1st, though at this time exact details on these changes have not been released within any patch notes.

After this update, players have the option to open up their farms to others by building cabins on your existing homestead/game save or by starting a new game from the co-op menu (where up to three cabins can be pre-built at the start of the game). Within the game's co-op menu players can adjust server visibility, making co-op friends only or invite only on Steam. Stardew Valley's multiplayer can also work via LAN, provided you know the host's IP address.

Those who are interested in playing Stardew Valley's Multiplayer today can enter the mode's public beta through Steam. Stardew Valley will receive Multiplayer support on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch at a later date.
