Star Control Origins: Earth Rising Part 2 - Return of the Lexites is now available

Stardock has announced that Star Control Origins' latest piece of expansion content is now available, making up part two of the game's 4-part Earth Rising season pass.

Earth Rising part 2: Return of the Lexites follows part one's (Aftermath's) storyline, bringing humanity face-to-face with the species which inspired humanity to create Star Control in the first place, the Lexites. This piece of expansion content brings the Lexites, a post-singularity species, into the game, a race that's motivated to stop Earth's expansion into the cosmos. This desire will force players to gather all of their resources to stop them, lest humanity's galactic journey will be brought to an end.

With this DLC, Stardock will bring new ships, weapons and missions into Star Control alongside the Lexite race, with missions involving the player's comment crew and Earth's spatial expansion being central to the expansion's storyline. Thanks to Star Control's non-linear nature, Earth Rising's content can be played before or after the base game's story arc.

Existing owners of Star Control: Origins' Earth Rising season pass will gain access to Part 2 of the DLC for free, with the full DLC being purchasable for $19.99/£15.49 on Steam. This DLC is also available on GOG. All four parts of Star Control: Origins' Earth Rising expansion are included at this price point, but parts 3 and 4 of the DLC pack are unreleased at the time of writing.

Parts 3, The Syndicate, will release sometime in Summer 2019 while Part 4, Earth Rises, will become available later this year. These release dates are after earlier estimates for the series, likely due to the Star Control Origins' removal and return to Steam and GOG earlier this year, which likely caused the development of the game to slow down.
