Sony confirms release dates for The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima

Earlier this month, Sony confirmed that The Last of Us Part II was delayed indefinitely, thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic and its impact on game developers.

Today, Sony has released its first update on The Last of Us Part II's progress, confirming that the game would release on June 19th, which is three weeks later than the game's original May 29th release date. In addition to this, Sony has also confirmed that Ghost of Tsushima will release on July 17th.

Below is Sony's official announcement for both games' release dates.

As our teams at Sony Interactive Entertainment and Worldwide Studios approach development milestones and confront a world changed by COVID-19, we find ourselves having to adapt to today’s ever-changing environment. Amidst some disruptions to our working styles, we wanted to provide an update to PlayStation gamers who are eager to learn when our next exclusive titles will arrive to PlayStation 4.

As we begin to see an ease in the global distribution environment, I am pleased to confirm that The Last of Us Part II will arrive on June 19. And Ghost of Tsushima will follow on July 17.

I want to personally congratulate and thank both the teams at Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch Productions on their achievements, as we know it’s not an easy feat to reach the finish line under these circumstances. Both teams have worked hard to deliver world-class experiences, and we can’t wait to see what you think of them when they release in just a few short months.

This announcement came shortly after story spoilers for The Last of Us Part II were released online, a factor which will make waiting for the game all the more difficult.

The Last Of Us is still one of my favourite games ever. It hasn't aged at all really. I really wish they'd made a PC version for superior graphics, but even the original PS3 version still looks good.Quote

TLOU remastered, on a PS4 pro. Some of it is low rent, but I still said wow a lot.Quote
