SEGA has revealed HUMANKIND, a Civ-Like Turn-based RPG

SEGA and Amplitude Studios have officially announced HUMANKIND, a new turn-based strategy game that's due to release sometime in 2020. Within the game, players are expected to create and lead a civilisation, from the Bronze Age to the Modern Age.

HUMANKIND is set to release on PC sometime in 2020 for both Windows and MacOS. The game is currently listed on Steam, but the game's trailer has no storefront listing.

In many ways, HUMANKIND looks a lot like the Civilization series, using what appears to be a hex-based map where players can build cities, armies and fight against other civilisations. With every age, players will be able to take on aspects of historical civilisations like the Romans, Ancient Egypt, the Khmer and Vikings, enabling players to evolve over time and offer endless levels of replayability.

At this time, SEGA has not shown any gameplay for HUMANKIND, though the game's reveal trailer is available below.

HUMANKIND is Amplitude Studios' magnum opus, a Historical Strategy game where YOU will re-write the entire narrative of humankind – a convergence of culture, history, and values that allows you to create a civilization that is as unique as you are. HOW FAR WILL YOU PUSH HUMANKIND?

At the time of writing, Humankind appears to be a PC exclusive that is due to release sometime in 2020.

Not sure if that was sarcastic, but SEGA has been in the strategy genre for a while now.Quote

I'm old, I still have the SEGA name firmly associated with long-dead consoles. Quote

Yeah. SEGA is the publisher behind the Total War series. I know what you mean though, SEGA isn't a brand that makes me think strategy. Sonic perhaps, but not Strategy.Quote

I'm honestly just surprised they are still around

But they do have some good studios behind them. CA and Amplitude are solid studios and make good games.Quote
