Red Dead Redemption 2's PC Graphics Settings appear in companion app - Reveals DX12 support

Evidence is continuing the pile up surrounding Red Dead Redemption 2's long rumoured PC version, with a list of the game's graphical settings appearing within the title's official companion app.

This information first appeared on the GTA Forums, with a user called Spider-Vice confirming that these PC settings aren't the same as what's already available within Grand Theft Auto 5, with DirectX 12.1 support, Ultra settings options, more graphics sliders and other changes suggesting that these settings are designed with a new PC game in mind.

Support for DirectX 12 also opens the door to unique features for Red Dead Redemption 2's PC version, with the API enabling raytracing support to be added to the game through DXR. If Rockstar intendeds to release Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, next-generation console versions are also likely to be on the cards; with both Sony's next-generation PlayStation and Microsoft's Project Scarlett promising support for hardware accelerated ray tracing.

Rockstar is also said to be working on an announced game for Google's Stadia platform, with many gamers suspecting that the game in question is Red Dead Redemption 2, with the game's Stadia version coming as an offshoot of the game's PC release.

A PC release seems like a logical step for Rockstar, bringing access to their game to a wider audience and enable owners of high-spec hardware to play the title at higher framerates and with higher levels of graphical fidelity.

In a recent interview, Take-Two's CEO stated that there is "no downside" to releasing Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC.

Honestly in 2 minds over this, I've played enough on PS4 to know I don't want to play anymore but on the flip side just because PC! Benches plus all those missing frames and hitches the console suffers from... I'll probably grab it a few weeks after release because you just know this is going to be a painful launch.Quote
