Quake returns with a remaster for modern PCs and consoles
Existing owners of Quake on Steam will be given this upgrade version for free, and the game’s original version will remain available through Steam’s launch options. On PC, 4K resolutions are supported, and ultra-fast 120Hz gameplay is possible.Â
Quake’s remastered version is now available on PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store, being available as a standalone game or as part of Xbox Game Pass for PC. New content includes Machine Games’ “Dimension of the Past” and “Dimension of the Machine” episodes, and free optional add-ons are available cush as Quake 64.Â
Quake’s remaster supports 4-player split-screen multiplayer on all platforms, offering gamers deathmatch and co-op modes. AI bots are also available for deathmatch mode, and cross-play multiplayer is available on all platforms.Â
While Quake supports Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 through backwards compatibility, updated next-generation versions will be made available that support 120Hz playback soon.
