Nvidia releases high system requirements for Portal with RTX

Did you expect anything less from an RTX showcase?

Nvidia releases high system requirements for Portal with RTX

PC gamers will need a high-end system to play Portal with RTX

Nvidia's Portal with RTX DLC is launching on December 8th, and it will be free to all owners of Portal on Steam. Portal with RTX revamps Valve's classic puzzle game with high resolution assets, physically based textures, ray tracing, and DLSS 3. The game is a GeForce RTX showcase that is designed to showcase the power of Nvidia's latest hardware.

Today, Nvidia has released system requirements for Portal with RTX, revealing exactly how demanding their revamped version of Portal will be. For 1080p 30 FPS gameplay, Nvidia expects gamers to own an RTX 3060 graphics card, and to enable that performance Nvidia expects gamers to enable DLSS. Those are some huge system requirements for 1080p 30 FPS gameplay, and that's with Nvidia's DLSS 2 Super Resolution enabled.

For 4K 60 FPS performance, Nvidia's Portal with RTX requires the performance of an RTX 4080 and the combined capabilities of DLSS Super Resolution (DLSS 2) and DLSS Frame Generation (DLSS 3). If you want to play Portal with RTX at 4K 60, you will need an incredibly powerful (and expensive) gaming systems.

Portal with RTX’s full ray tracing is incredibly demanding, stressing graphics cards to their limits. But with the help of DLSS 2, owners of the GeForce RTX 3060 will be able to achieve playable frames at 1080p at High settings. For a 60 FPS+ 1080p, High settings experience, we recommend the GeForce RTX 3080, accelerated by DLSS 2.

And to enjoy the ultimate Portal with RTX experience at 4K, with Ultra settings, at over 60 FPS, we recommend the GeForce RTX 4080 with the amazing DLSS 3 enabled.

Well a 2080 Ti is around equal to a 3070 isn't it ? Should be able to get 1440P60 with DLSS set to performance all being well, Going off the 3060 doing 1080P30 any way.Quote

Yeah roughly. Until the 3070 runs out of VRAM of course.

I suppose I shall have to suck it and see !Quote

Nah, It "only" needs a 4080 for the full experience at 4K, I don't think we'll ever have another Crysis situation again.Quote
