New The Outer Worlds Gameplay has Been Released - Campaign Length Confirmed

Obsidian Entertainment's The Outer Worlds was the highlight of E3 2018 to many gamers, showcasing a new RPG universe from the creators of Fallout New Vegas.

The Outer Worlds is set to release in late 2019, using the Unreal Engine 4 to offer compelling visuals as well as exciting gameplay. In a recent interview with Game Informer, it was also confirmed that the game's campaign will take between 30 and 40 hours to complete and that the game would feature a VATS-like combat mechanic call TTD, Tactical Time Dilation, which allows players to slow down time, look over the battlefield and aim/fire at your opponent's weak spots.

In The Outer Worlds, player companions will play a big role within the game, granting players unique abilities and skills while they are with you. Combat will also be divided amongst a variety of melee weapons as well as ranged options such as pistols and long-range firearms. The Outer World is designed with options in mind, giving gamers ample room for replayability if they decide to start the game again.

At the start of the game, players will wake up from hibernation on a colony ship which got lost on the way to Halcyon, humanity's furthest reaching colony. During the game, players will uncover a conspiracy to destroy the colony, starting an adventure that will see players travel across the cosmos and encounter a variety of locations, characters, factions and corporations along the way.

Obsidian Entertainment is well known for creating high-quality RPGs, creating Fallout: New Vegas, South Park: The Stick of Truth and the Pillars of Eternity series in recent years.

The Outer Worlds was in development long before Obsidian Entertainment was acquired by Microsoft. The Outer Worlds will be published by Private Division and will continue to be developed for PS4, Xbox One and PC, with Microsoft's acquisition of the studio having no impact on the game's development plans.

Apparently it's the sequel to New Vegas that Bethesda wouldn't allow.

It should be amazing if you're a Fallout fan.Quote

It looks so much more than anything resembling a Fallout sequel. It actually looks MUCH better than that, and that's coming from a hardcore Fallout fan! I HATE getting my hopes up (key to misery), but I'm stoked!Quote

It will be better because it will be everything Fallout 4 should have been.Quote
