Mortal Kombat 11's latest patch breaks 60FPS mod support

Mortal Kombat 11 has been updated on PC, adding several bug fixes and tweaks to the game while simultaneously breaking support for the game's 60FPS and Ultrawide mods, bringing back the game's black bars and 30FPS limitations within menus, intros, Fatal Blows, Krushing Blows, Fatalities and Krypt/

Full 60FPS support has been one of the most frequently requested fixes for the game, breaking past the limitation of the game's console variants to deliver smoother gameplay at the title's 60FPS cap.

Like many high-level fighting games, animations and physics are tied to framerate in Mortal Kombat 11, making framerates above 60FPS impossible. The areas that are capped to 30 are restricted to prevent large performance dips on the game's console versions to maintain framerate consistency without tearing.

A PC modder called Endri Lauson has already updated his FPS cap remover mod to re-enable 60FPS gameplay during the game's more demanding areas, an option that users of high-end PCs should be more than capable of running. Lausen claims that Mortal Kombat 11 doesn't use VAC or EAC, which means that the mod should be usable online without any potential downsides.

Lauson's mod is available to download here (see video description), though it is worth noting that the game's "The Krypt" mode is extremely demanding when compared to the rest of the game, making 60FPS play difficult. It is also unknown whether or not the mod can set off Mortal Kombat 11's anti-cheating measures.

When the mod is active, pressing F10 will allow the game to use ultrawide resolutions without black bars and pressing F11 will enable 60FPS gameplay in formerly 30FPS limited areas.

While we can understand why the console versions of Mortal Kombat 11 are restricted to 30FPS in selected areas, the developers of the game should know that gaming PCs are capable of powering through these demanding scenes without much hassle, assuming that the game is played on powerful enough hardware.
