Morrowind's Skyrim Remake, Skywind, receives lengthy Gamescom gameplay demo

The Elder Scrolls III, Morrowind has not aged well, especially when compared to the likes of Oblivion and Skyrim. Today, two projects aim to modernise the older 3D entries within The Elder Scrolls series, with Skyblivion working to bring Oblivion into the Skyrim engine while Skywind works to update Morrowind.

At Gamescom 2019, a lengthy gameplay demo for Skywind has been released, showcasing how far the mod has progressed since its inception. In the coming months, Skywind's developers plan to showcase more of the game and its unique systems. For now, we have a look at Skywind's voice acting, AI, dialogue and combat.

Skywind comes from a different modding them than Skyblivion, which recently received a teaser trailer. Both projects are designed to achieve similar purposes, but fans of The Elder Scrolls series will know how different both games are. Conversion work on one title doesn't necessarily help the development of the other.

The demo below follows a recreated quest from Morrowind, where the player starts in Nerevarine and is tasked with assassinating a Dunmer called Sarayn Sadus. Graphically, the demo looks a lot like Skyrim, as it should, making it a major upgrade from Morrowind's 2002-era graphics.
