Microsoft Windows 9 event later this month!

The Verge reports that later this month Microsoft will be holding an event where they will introduce the Windows 9, codename Threshold, to the public. It is also expected that soon after this event that a technical preview of the Operating System (OS) will be made available.

Microsoft Windows 9 event later this month!

Windows 9 is expected to deliver many changes, including tweaks to the UI, start menu and desktop interface which should please those who dislike the current Windows 8.1 interface. Cortana will also be integrated into the OS and Windows 9 will continue to improve and evolve up until it's eventual release, which is expected to be available before mid-2015.

Hopefully Microsoft's new OS will address the issues many have with Windows 8.1 and further improvements will be made to the performance and stability of the OS.

Hopefully this OS will also be more competitively priced, given that Free Operating Systems such as SteamOS and Linux continue to mature and become more widely used.

It will be interesting to see what they do but the leaks that have happened are not making me want to buy it.Quote

The only thing that I hate more than Windows 8 (and I despise it with the heat of a million stars) is Chromefox. Or Firechrome.

Hey, let's alienate our entire userbase with out next release. Awesome.Quote

8.1 is great in my experience. Then again I don't use metro and I have the EU version, which comes without the lockdown stuff.Quote

I have 8.1 and don't find any problems with it, ok it takes a little to setup but once done it's no different to using win 7
As it only cost £20 I can't complain about priceQuote

I just jumped from 7 to 8.1 Update 1. Impressed so far, if you just think of the Metro thing as a glorified start menu.Quote
