Microsoft has updated its new Edge browser to deliver a 13% performance boost

Last week, UL Benchmarks praised Microsoft for the performance boost offered by the company's new Chromium-based Edge browser, and the 10% performance improvement that the browser offered over Old Edge within its benchmark suite.

Now, Microsoft has revealed that it has measured up to a 13% improvement in browsing performance within its latest versions of new Edge, using browsing data from the Speedometer 2.0 benchmark.

Edge's upcoming beta builds for Edge will include these improvements, though the latest Dev and Canary builds already offer these changes. These improvements will help Edge to feel more responsive to inputs and help web pages load faster, enabling an improved web browsing experience.

One Microsoft validates these improvements, the will release to Edge's mainstream versions, offering faster browsing to their entire Edge userbase. These optimisations should arrive with Edge version 81.

Who cares? It's not like any browser related latency is any significant, "13% faster is like coming from 1ms down to 0.87ms, you can't even tell the difference... Just keep using your browser of preference, and if you really must, pay for a high speed fiber internet connection, that's the way to go for faster browsing or gaming, or run a DNS benchmark and choose a faster DNS.

There was a time when browsers took a noticeable amount of your time although still very insignificant, but that time is no more.Quote
