Metal Gear Survive Devs praise Kojima Productions in easter egg

Metal Gear Survive is the first game in the series without Hideo Kojima, moving away from the game's stealth action roots to create a title that offers survival elements in a game with strange zombie-like creatures. Survive isn't a Metal Gear game in the traditional sense, with the title's microtransactions already drawing ire from fans of the series alongside the game's lack of originality.

It has been discovered that Survive offers a small easter egg which gives a nod to Kojima Productions, Hideo Kojima's recently founded games studio, while also calling out several Konami employees.

In the title's character creator, players are shown a clipboard with names of several soldiers, whose names can be used to spell out "KJP FOREVER", a likely reference for Kojima Productions. Below this, the names "Bastard Yota" and "Cunning Yuji" can be found, which are thought to be references to the game's Director, Yota Tsutsumizaki, and producer, Yuji Korekado, both of which are also listed as AWOL. Neither of these names is flattering to these Konami higher-ups, especially when both are listed as absent.

Hideo Kojima left Konami in July 2015 after a long-running dispute with Konami, reforming Kojima Productions later in the year. Kojima Productions is currently working on Death Stranding for the PS4; the game does not have an official release date at this time. More information about Death Stranding is expected at E3 2018.
