Mass Effect Andromeda will not have a season pass

It has been confirmed that Mass Effect Andromeda will not have a season pass on PC or on consoles, unlike other recent EA games like Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2.

Season passes allow gamers to buy DLC for a game before the game launches, with the hopes that the season pass will offer more value than each piece of DLC separately.

While this business model can be attractive for consumers, it is something that has increasingly become increasingly anti-consumer, with some developers delivering a lot less DLC than consumers expect or simply do not provide buyers with any information on their planned DLC content when purchasing an expansion pass.

It has also been confirmed that Mass Effect Andromeda will be available to gamers early on both PC and Xbox One for EA/Origin Access, which will allow subscribers to play the game for a "limited time" before launch. Recently Battlefield 1 had a 10-hour free demo for EA/Origin Access subscribers.

Mass Effect Andromeda will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on March 21st in the US and March 23rd in the EU. At this time, PC system requirements are not available for the game.

Nice! I never really got on with the whole "season pass" thing. You always run the risk of the DLC not being up to much. I know it might cost more in the long-run, but I prefer to pick and choose my DLC. Glad they went this way with ME:A.Quote

Yeah, some games do it well. Bioshock Infinite had some great content (though it took ages to release).

Some games had hugely disappointing season passes, like Fallout 4. They marketed it as being as big as Fallout 3's DLC content, which it certainly wasn't. Far Harbour was the only good DLC there and it was not worth the cost of the season pass.Quote

Far Harbor was good but i've not done Nuka World yet but for the price I paid for the season pass i'm not grumbling either sometimes its best to wait until you can get them at half the original priceQuote

Yeah, with season passes it is best to wait until some worthwhile DLC is released, otherwise you can pay too much and not get what you thought you paid for.Quote

You could always wait for the DLC to come out before buying the season pass to see if it's worth it?Quote
