Here's everything that you need to know about XCOM: Chimera Squad

With a surprise reveal Firaxis and 2K Games have revealed XCOM: Chimera Squad, a new entry within the modern XCOM series that takes place after the events of XCOM 2.

Like main series XCOM titles, Chimera Squad is a turn-based tactical combat game, which features an all-new story and a lot more squad variety. In City 31, both humans and aliens live together in peace. With the Overlords gone, humanity is free to live together with the world's remaining aliens in peace, but that peace is but a knife's edge away from chaos. That's where Chimera Squad comes in.

Chimaera Squad is an Elite force of alien and human soldiers who are tasked with destroying the underground threats within City 31. Players will lead Chimera Squad and maintain peaceful human-alien relations by taking down those who would see that peace torn apart.

The primary objective of Chimera Squad is to keep City 31 districts in line, as too much unrest could cause the entire city to collapse. Within the game, eleven agents will be available to players, each of which offers unique abilities. When these abilities are combined with equipment options, players will quickly realise how much variety is available within XCOM: Chimera Squad.

On PC, XCOM: Chimera Squad will release on April 24th, arriving with a steep early discount of 50% for pre-purchasers. This offer makes the game £8.49 on PC, making this game considerably cheaper than other series entires. The game will release with Steam Workshop support, and support for mouse/keyboard controls and gamepads.

In XCOM: Chimera Squad, players will not be able to hire new squad members. This means that death is a big deal within XCOM: Chimera Squad, making it important for players to heat and stabilise their Squad members during combat. This factor will also make training increasingly important as the game progresses, as training will help agents heal their past wounds, and develop new skills to aid them in future encounters.

Hardware-wise, the PC system requirements of XCOM: Chimera Squad aren't much higher than that of XCOM 2, recommending 3GHz quad-core processors, DirectX 11 graphics cards and a minor bump in graphics card recommendations. basically, if your PC can handle XCOM 2 with relative ease, you will have no trouble running XCOM: Chimera Squad.
