Halo Wars: Definitive Edition will be available to play fro free this weekend

Halo Wars: Definitive Edition will be available to play for free this weekend

Back in 2009, Halo Wars released as an Xbox 360 exclusive, disappointing the PC gamers of that era. Not only were they being denied yet another Halo game, but they were also being denied an RTS title, a game type that is typically best suited to keyboard/mouse controls.

With plans to release Halo Wars 2 in 2017, Microsoft decided to bring the RTS series to PC, releasing the original Halo Wars on both PC and Xbox One as a Definitive Edition, boasting enhanced visuals and refined controls. Later that year, on April 20th 2017, Halo Wars: Definitive Editions released on the Steam storefront, granting access to the game to PC gamers outside of Microsoft's gaming storefront, bringing the game to the masses.

GameSpot has reported that Halo Wars: Definitive Edition will become available to play for free on Steam this weekend, starting on October 18th until October 21st, giving PC players the opportunity to try out the game. It is also possible for PC players to blitz through the game's entire campaign over this free period, which takes place several decades before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved.

It is likely that Halo Wars Definitive Editions will be available with a discount during the game's free trial period, with the game currently selling for £16.99 on Steam.
