Halo: The Master Chief Collection is Coming to PC - Steam Version Confirmed!

During their latest Inside Xbox Livestream,343 Industries announced that Halo: The Master Chief Collection is coming to PC, both on Steam and the Microsoft Store.

Alongside this announcement, it was also confirmed that Halo: Reach would also be coming to The Master Chief Collection, though at this time the release date for Halo: Reach has not been confirmed.

On PC, Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be released in stages, with each game in the collection receiving an independent release. This will allow Microsoft to put more effort into each game of the series, which currently contains Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4, Halo: ODST and Halo: Reach (Soon). The game will feature adjustable framerates on PC, support for a variety of resolutions, including ultra-wide resolutions and offer updated graphics and support PC specific features like rebindable keyboard/mouse controls and FOV adjustment options.

At this time the PC release date of Halo: The Master Chief Collection's PC version is unknown, with both Steam and the Microsoft Store lacking listings for the game. All we know is that the first game of the collection to release on PC is Halo: Reach, and that the other games in the series will release in "chronological order" thereafter.

Owners of Halo: The Master Chief Collection Digitally on Xbox One will be able to access the game on the Microsoft Store when the collection releases. The game will also be available as part of Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass on PC and Xbox One.

Later this year, these classic Halo experiences will start to arrive on PC via the Microsoft Store and, for the first time in the series - on Steam. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for us to bring the Halo Universe and Master Chief’s story to a new audience and to offer PC gamers a chance to step into the franchise on the PC platform of their choice.

The Master Chief’s arrival on PC will happen in stages with each title releasing one by one over time - giving the development teams the ability to ensure each one is right, while giving players a chance to jump in right away, rather than having to wait for the entire suite of games to be completed. Our current plan is for this journey to begin with the launch of Halo: Reach – the fictional beginnings of Master Chief’s saga – with the rest of the titles following in chronological order thereafter. Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST (Campaign), and Halo 4 will each be available for individual purchase within MCC as they become available. And each game will evolve and grow over time with community input.

For the team at 343 Industries, the most important and critical element of this project is ensuring that MCC delivers a true “first class” experience on PC. We’re embarking on a journey with our community to build a real PC experience that delivers on PC gamer expectations. The team is passionately committed to ensuring that all the features, bells, and whistles expected in a modern PC title are included with MCC. These features may vary somewhat by title, and we won’t get everything in there all at once – this is a product and an experience that will grow and evolve over time. We are laying the groundwork for PC native features such as excellent mouse and keyboard controls, support for multiple resolutions and aspect ratios, field-of-view sliders, and adjustable framerates, to name but a few. And yes, there will be support for Xbox gamepads and other PC controllers.

Well here's to hoping it won't be a bug infested mess like the original collection launch was. Though the staged release is really reassuring to me.

I hope we get more stuff to than the last collection. Halo 3 was by far the best of the series(multiplayer for me personally) and we could never access the Halo 3 specific Forge. To me it had the most simplistic design but the best functionality. Keep it stupid simple as I like to call it, and it had never ending fun. Hopefully we get the same level of quality for a forge that includes everything from all games(like assets and whatnot). I remember the good ol' racing days with the hog and mongoose, then having infected games before zombie games became a fad.Quote

1, 2, 3, ODST, 4 and Reach, That's quite a line up

I hope they also bring 5 to PC, Not the best but the campaign in co-op is fun.

Up on Steam, All 6 games, Minus 5 which I guess will come later.

This is the first thing that has made me properly grin for quite a while.

I own a hard copy for Xbox One, but I just bought the digital version in preparation for this. The fact that it's going to include Reach is a long time dream come true. We're slowly but surely reaching the point where we won't need to buy an Xbox anymore, and that is possibly the most exciting part about all of this.Quote

Maybe I'll finally dive into the Halo universe with this later this year!Quote
