H1Z1 has officially become Free To Play

After launching from Steam Early Access last week, H1Z1 has become a Free-To-Play title, transitioning away from the upfront payment model that the game had during early access. Now all PC gamers need to play the title is a free Steam account, relying on in-game microtransactions for funding.

Those who have already paid for the game will receive the “H1Z1 Appreciation Pack”, which includes three cosmetic items, 10 victory crates and 10,000 Skulls of in-game currency.

To thank all of our loyal players who helped make awesome, game-changing decisions during our time in Early Access, we’ll be rewarding everyone who already purchased the game with the “H1Z1 Appreciation Pack”, containing the following items:

– Gasrunner Hoodie
– Bloom Survivor T-Shirt
– Splinter Camo ARV
– 10 Victory Crates
– 10,000 Skulls

This announcement comes one month before H1Z1 Pro League, an event which will take place on April 21st with 15 competing eSports teams.

Those who purchased H1Z1 over the past 14 days and have played for less than two hours can request a refund on Steam. Daybreak Games recommends that player use this option if they are unhappy with their purchase within that timeframe.

We are very excited to announce that H1Z1 will be free to play starting today. Not only does this decision allow us to share our version of Battle Royale and Auto Royale with even more players, but it signifies the next step in making H1Z1 a must-watch esport.

The Pro League is going to redefine esports when it kicks off in Las Vegas this April, and whether a person is an aspiring pro athlete or just wants to play with friends, we want everyone to have the chance to play the most competitive battle royale game.
