GTA IV has returned to Steam in the form of GTA IV: Complete Edition

No multiplayer, and no Windows Live

GTA IV is returning to Steam next month without multiplayer

GTA IV has returned to Steam in the form of GTA IV: Complete Edition

As promised last month, Grand Theft Auto VI has returned to Steam, arriving in the form of GTA IV: Complete Edition, a single game which merges together Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes of Liberty City.

This new edition is free from the burdens of Games for Windows Live, and replaces all older editions of Grand Theft Auto IV on Steam. With this change, all multiplayer functions of Grand Theft Auto IV will no longer function, making it necessary for Rockstar Games to also remove these game modes from the title.

The good news is that all owners of Grand Theft Auto VI and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes of Liberty City on Steam will be able to upgrade to Grand Theft Auto IV, Complete Edition for free. This means that owners of just one of these titles will now be able to access both. GTA IV owners can now access Episodes of Liberty City's content for free and vice versa.

Rockstar Games' new edition of Grand Theft Auto IV contains no new content and lacks any additional PC optimisations when compared to its original release. This means that PC gamers should expect the same performance levels and issues as before. That said, at least the game can now function without Games for Windows Live.

Rockstar has stated that RamJam FM, Self-Actualization FM, and Vice City FM are "temporarily unavailable" within Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition. These radio stations, which were exclusive to Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, should be added to Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition soon.

More information about GTA IV is available on Steam. At this time, Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition the game is not available or purchase on Steam.

Doesn't sound like a complete edition if they are stripping away features...Quote

I'm guessing there's a lot of music missing from this version too.Quote

The following Radio Stations will be temporarily unavailable in Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition

RamJam FM, Self-Actualization FM, and Vice City FM (previously available in Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City)
So the missing radio stations should be added back in later.Quote

Basically License issues and all depending if Rockstar can broker a new deal or just doesn't bother and uses the temporarily thing as an excuse to keep people at bay.Quote
