GOG brings classic Metal Gear, Castlevania and Contra titles back to PC

GOG started its life as Good Old Games, a company which restored the functionality of classic PC titles. Through the company, gamers can download classic titles and know that they will be playable on the latest Windows OS’ and be free from DRM.

Today, GOG and Konami have announced that Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania and Contra are now available on PC as DRM-free titles through GOG’s storefront.

These games are fully playable on modern PCs, allowing these classic titles to be enjoyed without emulation or the need to apply fan-made patches to make each of these games functional. Beyond that, this will be the first time that these games have been made available digitally on PC. This release will come as great news for those without disk drives, and those who are unable to find disks for many of these classic titles.

On GOG, Metal Gears Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 are both available for £7.19 each and Metal Gear and Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania and Contra are available for £4.79 each.

Note that these games are re-releases, not remasters. Do not expect to see high-resolution textures or other upgrades with these new digital releases. PC gamers can purchase each of these games on GOG.
