GOG adds several new games to their GOG Connect program

GOG adds several new games to their GOG Connect program, allowing existing Steam owners to redeem a free DRM-free GOG copy. Right now GOG connect includes The Witcher and The Witcher 2 as well as Metro 2033 Redux, Saints Row 2 and several other popular titles.

This will not only allow PC gamers to gain access to DRM-free versions of games but also back up some of your games library to GOG, meaning that in the unlikely event that Steam goes bankrupt or closes down that you will still have access to your games via GOG.

Only select games are importable via GOG connect, but right now a total of 20 games can be redeemed on GOG if you already own them on Steam. More games are coming to GOG connect, at a later date, with the current selection of games being part of the program for a limited timeframe.

This is a great offer for those who would like to back up some of their games library outside of Steam or wish to play their games DRM free, as it is completely free and fairly easy to do. All GOG users will need to do is log into your account on the GOG website and then log into your steam account on the GOG Connect webpage, it is that simple.

After the crap I had with Origin the other night if it don't run in Steam I don't want it. Took me two hours to recover my account from a chuffing Russian, who had even changed the name on the account to his. Thankfully he could not change the security question, or I'd have been out of £400 worth of games.Quote

I'll do this later tonight. Have about 3 games I could connect. Shame they didnt do the Witcher 3, but it's still fairly new and popular so for financial reasons I see why they didn't. It would probably be a limited time offer if they didQuote

Love the idea of GOG connect, if only it actually worked. I have witcher and Witcher 2 on steam, and Witcher 3 on GOG, but won't recognise that I have the first 2 on steam.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon!Quote
