It has been confirmed that Epic Game's Fortnite and its free Battle Royale component will be coming to the Chinese market through Tencent. The Chinese publisher has also promised to spend $15 million to support  Fortnite esports both within China and internationally.

Tencent already owns 40% of Epic Games and had been responsible for bringing PUBG to China, while also working with international publishers like Ubisoft to bring more foreign games into the Chinese market.

China has laws in place which requires foreign developers to have a domestic sponsor as a publishing partner within the region, which prevents international game developers and publishers from accessing the country's gamers on their own. This local sponsor requirement is how companies like Tencent have been able to explode onto the gaming industry in recent years, as more and more companies want to access the growing Chinese market.

At this time Epic Games has not revealed Fortnite's release date for the Chinese region, though it is possible that the game will come as a massive hit to PUBG within the region, given Fortnite's free to play nature and lower hardware requirements.
