Firaxis announces XCOM 2: War of the Chosen

At the 2017 E3 PC Gaming Show, Firaxis has officially announced XCOM 2: War of the Chosen, the first major expansion for XCOM 2.

This expansion requires a copy of XCOM 2 to play and will be release on August 29th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, bringing with it a lot of new soldier classes and enemy types. ADVENT, the main enemy force of the game will also have new "Chosen" hero units, which players will fight against over several campaign missions, coming with new abilities with each encounter.

In War of the Chosen, there will also be other rebel groups outside of XCOM, each of which has their own unique soldier classes and gameplay advantages. Each of these groups can be merged with XCOM after the completion of certain tasks, opening up a lot of extra macro-level strategy to the game that is outside of each traditional encounter.

The fight against ADVENT continues when additional resistance factions form in order to eliminate the alien threat on Earth. In response, a new enemy, known as the “Chosen,” emerges with one goal: recapture the Commander. This expansion to the 2016 award-winning strategy game of the year includes new Hero classes to counter the “Chosen”, new enemies, missions, environments and increased depth in strategic gameplay. Requires XCOM 2 to play.
