Fallout 76's PC system requirements have been announced

Fallout 76's PC system requirements have been announced

Bethesda has officially released Fallout 76's PC system requirements, allowing PC gamers to judge whether or not their systems are ready to venture into the multiplayer mayhem that is Fallout's irradiated interpretation of West Virginia.

Fallout 76 releases on November 14th, but those who pre-order the game will be able to play the game's B.E.T.A (Break-It Early Test Application), which includes the full game in an unfinished state. This means that early players will be expected to play an unpolished version of the game, complete with more issues than any of Bethesda Softworks previous RPGs, making the B.E.T.A a sub-par early access version of the final game. The PC B.E.T.A for Fallout 76 starts on October 30th.

Sadly, Bethesda did not reveal the framerate or settings targets of their Fallout 76 PC system requirements, but they represent a significant leap over Fallout 4, both in terms of CPU and GPU requirements. For starters, the game's storage requirements have doubled from 30GB (from Fallout 4) to 60GB.

Fallout 76's PC system requirements have been announced

On the CPU side, both Fallout 76's minimum and recommended system requirements list Intel's i7 4790 processor, with Bethesda listing an AMD Ryzen 3 1300X and an AMD Ryzen 5 1500X as part of the game's minimum and recommended specifications respectively.

On the graphics side, Bethesda lists Nvidia's GTX 780 and AMD's R9 285 as the game's minimum GPU requirement, while recommending AMD's R9 290X and Nvidia's GTX 970. Fallout 76's GPU requirements remain similar for Fallout 4's on the Radeon side, with the graphics requirements on the Nvidia side seeing a significant uplift.

- Edit - Bethesda has updated Fallout 76's PC system requirements since this article was initially published, changing the game's i7-4790 minimum CPU requirement to an i5-6600K.

Fallout 76 (minimum):
Requires 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Processor: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5 GHz/AMD Ryzen 3 1300X 3.5 GHz or equivalent
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB/AMD Radeon R9 285 2GB or equivalent
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Storage: 60 GB of free disk space

Fallout 76 (recommended):
Requires 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 7/8.1/10
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 3.6 GHz / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X 3.5 GHz

German newssite Golem.de lists an i5-6600K as minimum alongside the Ryzen 3 1300X. Can you check? Should've simply been a little typo on your end, since a 4790 as both minimum AND recommended seems unlikely, right?

That is the strangest minimum to recommended range I have seen. There must be something off about that.Quote

It seems that Bethesda changed it after they initially put it live. Gotta love it when companies do that.Quote
