Expect PC Gaming Announcements From Microsoft at E3 2019

In 2019, Microsoft is planning to expand its Xbox ecosystem beyond the confines of console hardware, breaking many of the boundaries that stand between several gaming platforms on the process.

If recent rumours are to be believed, Xbox Game Pass is set to arrive on Nintendo’s Switch console, and Windows 10 is set to gain support for more Xbox-level features, which might extend as far as bringing Xbox One game compatibility to the system.

Microsoft has quickly become the company to watch in the world of gaming, investing heavily in getting their games into the hands of more gamers.

Phil Spencer, in a recent interview with PC Gamer, has confirmed that Microsoft’s Xbox Division plans to make some PC-centric announcements at E3 2019, investing to deliver better experiences in their store, services and in their games.

On the topic of the Windows 10 Store, Phil Spencer confirmed Microsoft’s plans to develop a “new Store experience for games”, that will factor in everything that the company has learned from PC gamers.

Delivering great gaming experience to PC players is critically important to the future of Xbox and gaming at Microsoft, We have a responsibility to invest in new ways we can benefit the PC player to help ensure they stay at the center of the experience.

While we are proud of our PC gaming heritage, we’ve made some mistakes along our journey. We know we have to move forward, informed by our past, with the unique wants, needs and challenges of the PC player at the center of decisions we make. I know we’ve talked quite a bit over time about what we want to deliver for the player on PC, but at E3 this year, and throughout 2019, you’ll begin to see where we’ve been investing to deliver across Store, services, in Windows and in great games. It’s just the beginning.

With these statements in mind, it seems likely that the Xbox app will soon become the hope of Microsoft’s PC games, with Phil Spencer issuing non-commital comments when asked if Microsoft will release their games on both Steam and their PC storefront. Regardless, 2019 is set to be an exciting time for PC gamers.
