Epic Games Brings their Refund Policy In Line with Steam

Epic Games has updated the refunds policy of the Epic Games Store, bringing their retail platform in line with Steam, offering gamers "unlimited" refunds within a fortnite of purchase, but only if less than 2 hours of the game are played.

This news comes from Epic Games' Sergey Galyonkin, the man behind Steam Spy, who also confirmed that the Epic Games Store now supports regional prices for 30 regions, covering 130 countries. At this time the Epic Games Store will still present prices in US dollars, but regional currencies will be added in the future.

On the topic of Steam Spy, Epic Games promises to create an in-house solution which will offer developers accurate data for their games, including playtime, player counts and other useful data. At this time it is unknown when "Epic Spy" will be available to developers.

Over the past number of weeks, Epic Games has successfully pulled several developers away from Steam, including Saber Interactive and the publisher Ubisoft, who no longer plans to release The Division 2 on Steam.

While Epic's Game Store has some notable downsides, lacking a user review section or built-in social features, the storefront offers developers a larger chunk of game sales revenue, a factor which will allow developers to invest more in their future titles. The question today is whether or not gamers will put their weight behind Epic Games, as that will ultimately decide whether or not the storefront is a success.
