Discord has quickly become PC gaming's go-to communications service, replacing Steam chat, Teamspeak and other alternative services. Now, the gaming-focused chat service plans to expand into other areas, hoping to take on Valve as both an alternative to Steam Chat and as a storefront.

Today, Discord is launching their Discord Store beta test, with plans to offer gamers a curated list of gaming titles that are all recommended by Discord staff. Free games will also be available to subscribers of Discord Nitro, a $5 per month/$50 per year subscription service which already offers gamers higher quality screen share functions, larger file upload limits and more.

Discord's Storefront is set to act as an exclusive platform for several new titles, which will launch under the company's "First on Discord" program. All games on this service will eventually be available on other storefronts, usually 90 days or so after launch, though no games will be "First on Discord" while the storefront is in beta.

Alongside the Discord store, the company also plans to allow their application to act as an all-in-one launcher for your entire PC gaming library, with a "Universal Library Tab" that can scan your PC for games and compile them into a single, easy to access list.

Deep Silver and THQ are confirmed participants in Discord's upcoming storefront, with initial free Nitro titles including Saints Row: The Third, Metro: Last Light Redux, GoNNER, and Super Meat Boy.

Right now, the Discord Store is only available to 50,000 Canadia beta testers. At this time the Discord Store is subject to change and has no set launch date for all Discord users.
