Cyberpunk 2077 to be showcased at Gamescom 2018 – PC specs for E3 demo revealed

Cyberpunk 2077 was easily one of E3 2018’s most highly anticipated reveals, stealing the crowd’s attention with spectacular visuals and a promise to deliver a single player RPG experience that will rival, or perhaps surpass The Witcher 3.

In a recent interview with Jason Schreier, CD Projekt Red’s co-founder and co-CEO Marcin Inwinski stated that the developer plans to showcase Cyberpunk 2077 at Gamescom 2018, which takes place this August. The developer also noted that game runs on the company’s latest iteration of their in-house RED Engine, REDengine 4.

During the interview, Inwinski also noted how pleased he was with the reception of Cyberpunk 2077 and confirmed that the game was not “an artificial piece of content created for the purposes of the show” and in fact was “actually a build of the game”. This means that the game’s E3 demo should be reasonably similar to the final product, though sadly CD Project has not released any video of this gameplay demo to the public.

Within the official Cyberpunk 2077 Discord server, a member of the server called “Street Dweller” asked for the specifications of the PC that ran Cyberpunk 2077’s E3 demo, prompting a response from CD Project Staff member “Alicja”, who presented the following specifications.

The system below is using a mini ITX PC with an ASUS ROG Strix Z370i motherboard, an Intel i7 8700K, 32GB of 3000MHz G.Skill memory, a Samsung 960 NVMe SSD and a GTX 1080 Ti graphics card.

Sadly, no details have been released regarding the resolution of framerate of CD Projekt’s E3 gameplay demo, leaving us with little indication of how well the game ran in real-time. Reports for Cyberpunk 2077 have been positive so far, though many suspect that the game is designed with next-gen hardware in mind, placing it in “PS5” and “Next-box” territory.
