Crytek's Hunt: Showdown is Free To Play this weekend

This weekend, Crytek's Hunt: Showdown will be available to play for free, giving PC gamers the opportunity to try out the latest shooter from the development house that brought us the Crysis series.

During this free weekend, the game will be available with a 20% discount on Steam, with the start of the free weekend coinciding with the launch of the title's South American servers. The free weekend is already underway and will end on Monday, August 13th, at 10 am PT/1 pm ET/ 6 pm BST / 7 pm CEST.

Hunt: Showdown is a first-person bounty hunting game that offers players a mix of PVE and PVP combat, where players hunt monsters and then each-other to claim their bounties. The game is also CryEngine's latest graphical showcase, using high-quality shadows and graphical effects to enhance gameplay, allowing monsters to hide in plain sight and catch hunters off-guard.

This your first rodeo? Let us fill you in: Hunt is a multiplayer, first-person bounty hunting game that combines the action, the thrill, and the tension of multiple genres into a unique new gaming experience. During each match, you must track and kill monsters—solo or in teams of two—then you need to get off the map with the prize before another Hunter takes you out.

Hunt: Showdown currently ships with high PC system requirements, owing thanks to how engrained specific graphical effect are in gameplay, preventing users of low-end PC from turning off shadows and other performance heavy effects. Today, Hunt: Showdown is available via Steam Early Access, with Crytek actively working to improve the game's performance before the title's official launch, so things should improve with time.

Shortly after this free weekend, a new monster called the "Water Devil" will be added to the game, which will make the game more dangerous for both newcomers and veteran players alike.
