CEMU version 1.6.2 will contain a lot of performance improvements
CEMU version 1.6.2 will contain a lot of improvements to the performance, load times and the compatibility of a lot of popular Wii U titles like Super Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2 and Mario Kart 8.
The video below shows a PC with an Intel i5 750 CPU at 4GHz and a GTX 970 emulating Xenoblade Chronicles X at a much higher framerate, changing the games performance from around 15-20 FPS on CEMU version 1.6.1 to 25-30FPS on the latest version of the emulator.
The main benefits of this new update are the compatibility improvements and changes in Super Mario Brothers 3D World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Super Smash Bros and Bayonetta 2. These games are now much more playable on the emulator, even on systems with relatively old CPUs.
Right now the development of this piece of software is being funded on Patreon, with each new version of the emulator releasing to backers one week before the public launch. Right now the Team Cemu Patreon has 663 backers and raises over $2,800 a month.
At the time of writing, version 1.6.2 is available to the public, allowing PC gamers to easily play Wii U games on PC hardware, though please bear in mind that emulation is a legal grey area.
