CD Projekt Red will release Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales on October 23rd

CD Project Red has announced that Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales will release on PC on October 23rd, with a console release coming later this year on Xbox One and PS4 this December.

At this time it is unknown exactly what the game is, with CD Projekt calling the title a single player RPG with narrative-driven exploration, unique puzzles and card battle mechanics.

The game is what was initially designed to act as a story mode for Gwent, The Witcher TCG, eventually becoming its independent project as CD Projekt Red expanded the game’s scope. Gwent is also set to leave its beta/early access mode on October 23rd, receiving a major update called “Homecoming”, which will redesign many of the game’s graphical elements. Gwent will be coming to both PS4 and Xbox One on December 4thm the same day as the console version of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is designed to offer around 30 hours of story content,  telling the tale of Meve, the Warrior-Queen of both Lyria and Rivia, who faces an imminent invasion from Nilfgaard.

CD Projekt says that the story of Thronebreaker was “crafted by the developers responsible for some of the most iconic moments in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”, which should make for a compelling story.
