Battlefield Hardline Delayed

Last night it was announced that Battlefield Hardline has been delayed until early 2015. As all Battlefield fans should know the Hardline beta was launched at E3 2014, during this beta Visceral Games learnt a lot about what players wanted from this game.

This feedback has made Visceral rethink the way they want to go with this game, so that they can make a game that the fans want and will be more successful for the studio. This is what they had to say.

"As a result (of the beta), the Visceral Games team learned a lot from players about what they wanted in the game. We’ve been poring over the data and feedback, and have already been putting a lot of it right into the game and sharing it directly with you.

This feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better. The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing. However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months.

We decided that the right thing to do was to take more time to ensure Hardline is the best, most innovative Battlefield experience we can give to you, our fans."

The Improvement List

This is the list of things that Visceral want to do with their extended time-frame, gladly Stability is on the list so we shouldn't get a repeat of Battlefield 4.

1. Multiplayer Innovation: Coming out of our E3 beta, internal focus tests, and work with our community, we have received a lot of great Multiplayer thinking. We’re going to be adding some new feature ideas direct from the community that will evolve the cops and criminals fantasy into a truly unique Battlefield Multiplayer experience.

2. Single Player Story Depth: In order to ensure our Single Player experience delivers on player expectations, we’re spending more time polishing our core features, as well as adding a few new ones that will support a deeper “crime revenge” story experience.

3. Stability: This has been a focus for our team since day one and we’re going to be using the extra time to continue to optimize the game for a stable launch. We have learned a lot from Battlefield 4, are continuing to learn from our Community Test Environment and will learn more from another Hardline beta. More time allows us to surface issues that the team can attempt to fix prior to launch.

Battlefield Hardline delayed until 2015

We cannot doubt that Visceral is taking their fan feedback seriously and are indeed trying to create a successful game, with this being the first Visceral addition to the long standing Battlefield series they have a lot to live up to. Given the many issues associated with the previous iteration of Battlefield, we simply can't recommend a pre-order of this title. We advise all our users to wait for a stable release or at a minimum a stable beta closer to the games launch.

Honestly whilst the beta did run a fair bit better than BF4, and they are taking time to "polish" the game so it's "better" at launch than what BF4 was, I still cannot help but think it's going to be a steaming POS!

I will try the next beta that comes for it if there is one, but I am not going to rush out and buy it on release day or even pre-order it.Quote

Not that I'd actually spend money on Hardline, but I think this is a good idea, but it also means that if its utter e again, everybody is gonna be really mad.Quote

It wouldn't bother me if this was delayed forever as I won't be buying itQuote

Besides, apparently delaying a release doesn't mean that the game will be any good *cough* Watchdogs *cough*.

I played the beta for a bit and got bored after 4 or 5 rounds. You just can't play as a team of organized criminals/poilce force with a bunch of random strangers on the internet that don't communicate with eachother at all.Quote

I am still on the side for this of " not buying a expansion pack" but I will wait and see what the reviews say, and I know people who are going to buy it simply because it has "Battlefield" in the name.

If I was sure I was going to buy the game then I would have hit the pre-order button but after playing, the first beta for it I still don't see me buying it.Quote
