Alan Wake returns to Steam with renewed music rights

Back when Remedy Entertainment developed Alan Wake, the company only managed to get a seven-year license for the game's soundtrack, creating issues long after the game was released on digital storefronts. This forced Alan Wake off of Steam GOG and other digital storefronts, preventing newcomers to the series from experiencing the original, which is a problem given the title's popularity and TV aspirations

Now, thanks to the efforts of both Remedy Entertainment and Microsoft, Alan Wake has returned to both Steam and GOG, with renegotiated music rights and no changes to the game's original soundtrack. This is great news for fans of the original, as musical changes could have a dramatic impact on the tone of the game, potentially hampering the overall experience.

Remedy has also confirmed that Alan Wake will be making a return to Xbox in the near future, returning to Xbox Live, potentially with support for Xbox One and Xbox One X backwards compatibility.

Right now, Alan Wake is available on both Steam and GOG for around £2.30, literally making the game "cheap as chips" on the PC platform. Kudos to Remedy for restoring their game to digital storefronts.
