A new Saints Row game is in “deep development”

THQ Nordic has announced that the publisher’s next Saints Row game is in “deep development”, with Volition taking the helm. The last main series Saints Row game, Saints Row 4, was released in 2013, which was followed up by the expansion Gat out of Hell in 2015. Since then Volition has released Agents of Mayhem, which launched in 2017 to mixed reviews.

Furthermore, THQ Nordic has confirmed that the company has “at least two major AAA-releases” planned before March 2021, suggesting that the company’s new Saints Row game will release within this timeframe.

Volition’s new Saints Row title will be a “full entry” for the series, likely releasing with an updated game engine, a new game world and modernised visuals. Both Saints Row 4 and Gat Out of Hell were criticised for their lack of graphical innovation at the time, with both offering similar visuals to Saints Row The Third.

With THQ Nordic officially confirming the game’s development, it is likely that we will be hearing a lot more about the game in the coming months. At this time, is it unknown if the game targets current-generation consoles or their next-generation counterparts.
