Volt Modding the Tagan Easycon 2Force PSU

Inside The PSU

Inside the PSU

'Tidy but crammed' would be the best way to describe the internals of this PSU. Luckily everything we need is easy to get to.
Looking around, you might think you've hit the jackpot when you see the pots in the picture below, unfortunatly these are not the ones.

Tagan Pots Tagan Internals

Some sites say that these pots control the +3v & +5v rails, but i certainly did not see any change to the voltages at all when adjusting them. They might be responsible for for controlling the fan speed activation temperature but i have no evidence to support this.

Tagan Pots Tagan Pots

Here's what we are looking for, a small white pot, most probably covered in green glue to prevent it from being tampered with.
Use a knife to carefully scrape the glue off. Its important to make sure that there is no glue left around the edges of the pot, or this will prevent you from turning it fully round.

Turn the pot clockwise with either a screwdriver or pliers. The pot will only turn around 45° but its just enough to raise the voltage of the rails around 0.50v which was enough to bring my load voltages to 12.2v.

Voltages

It is possible to adjust the pot while the PSU is switched on. This will enable you to fine tune your load voltage, but also is EXTREMELY dangerous and you will need to take extra precautions to ensure you do not get an electric shock. Be warned.

Finally, put your PSU back together remembering to reconnect the fan!
