PC builders will soon be able to pre-order CableMod's 90-degree 12VHPWR adaptor
CableMod has confirmed that pre-orders for their highly anticipated 12VHPWR right angled adaptors will start on October 31st at 7 PM PDT (2 AM on November 1st UK time.)
These new right angled 12VHPWR adaptor are designed to make large graphics cards more usable within modern PC cases, avoiding 12VHPWR cable bending and unnecessary cable strain. This adaptor increases the clearance between your graphics card and your PC case's side panel, allowing super wide graphics cards to be installed within narrower PC cases safely.
Nvidia's new RTX 4090 series graphics cards are chunky. They need to be given their high TDPs of 450W or higher. Most models are over three PCIe slots thick, and many are so wide that they become curiously close to the side panels of most PC cases. That's bad news high power 12VHPWR connectors, as squeezing power cables beside side panels can result in cable strain, wire bending, and excessive levels of terminal stress. That's where CableMod's 12VHPWR adaptor steps in.
Recently, we have had a look at CableMod's 12VHPWR custom cables, and we look forward to having a look at their 90-degree cable adaptors. With this right angle cable adaptor, power cables will now only protrude 23.2mm away from your graphics card. This not only prevents cable squeeze between your GPU and your case's side panel, it also makes your power cable easier to connect and remove from some graphics card designs.
One of the critical parts of CableMod's 90-degree 12VHPWR design is that it is available in two configurations. These configurations allow this adaptor to support most RTX 4090 graphics cards and allows users to choose if they want their adaptor facing upwards or downwards, regardless of the configuration of the 12VHPWR connector on your graphics card. These options should also prove useful for those who have vertically mounted their graphics cards and want their cables to point a specific direction.
Sadly, CableMod has not revealed what the price of their their 12VHPWR 90-degree adaptor will be, though they have confirmed that they will be available to purchase from October 31st.
Those who are interested in this CableMod adaptor can sign up and register their interest in the product here. Pre-orders start on Monday at 7 PM PDT.

Would rather have it go ALONGSIDE the card instead. Make it a four way adapter instead.

The placement of the power is the most ridiculous ever anyway. Ok I know the FE oddly shaped Arrow PCB forces limitations, but surely there was a better spot than this!

Perhaps a bottom end corner power slot would be the best. Discrete and easily out of the way.Quote

Id rather have seen that void space utilised to route the power better.Quote
