We've all been through this before. We bought a product, it stopped working during its warranty period, and we need to return it. This is where the trouble starts. Should I return it to the retailer I purchased it from, should I contact the manufacturer support team, what should I do to get my product replaced? Sadly, that's only the start of the RMA process. 

Scan UK has decided to make things a lot easier, launching a new system that they call R48, which will allow customers to receive an enhanced form of customer support which promises to deliver replacement products within 48 hours of receiving them. To do this, Scan UK has teamed up with brands like AMD, Corsair and ASUS to bring RMAs in-house. 

With this program, Scan customers will be able to purchase applicable products with the knowledge that RMAs will be dealt with through scan and come with the promise of 48-hour replacements. All customers will have to look for is the Scan R48 logo. 

   R48 is a commitment from Scan and the brands involved to replace and dispatch a faulty product within 48 hours of us receiving it back. Only brands who meet strict criteria will get the R48 badge, one of which is that we can replace a faulty product without going through the repair process. This allows the fastest possible turnaround time for the customer.

Below is a list of Scan UK's initial R48 partners. In time, Scan UK hopes to open up R48 to more hardware partners, hoping that the program will allow Scan to garner more sales as customers grow to rely on the retailer's ultra-fast replacement times.

Something Ebuyer could do with looking at, 2 months now and still no replacement for the DOA 1TB Seagate laptop drive I ordered. As for Seagate they can go rot in a hole as their RMA service is dire!Quote
