Palmer Luckey has now left Oculus

Palmer Luckey has now officially left Oculus/Facebook, a mere two months after the ZeniMax/Oculus court case came to a close. At this time, both Facebook and Luckey have not commented on whether this departure was voluntary or forced, with Facebook citing a policy to not discuss internal or personal matters.
Below is an official statement from Facebook/Oculus;

Palmer will be dearly missed. Palmer’s legacy extends far beyond Oculus. His inventive spirit helped kickstart the modern VR revolution and helped build an industry. We’re thankful for everything he did for Oculus and VR, and we wish him all the best.

Luckey as one of Oculus' Co-founders and is not the first of the original Oculus Co-founders to leave their leading roles within the company. A few months ago Co-founder Brendan Iribe left the position or CEO to take a different position within the company, with Oculus not announcing his successor.

At this time the internal structure of Oculus is a mess, with no new CEO and no clear internal structure, at least for the time being. Right now John Carmack is still the CTO of Oculus, but right now there are a lot of holes where leadership figures should be.

At this time the future of Oculus is not clear, though it is likely that the company will announce future plans within the next few months as the company is restructured.
