Halo is getting a 10 episode TV series

Microsoft has announced that Showtime has ordered a 10-part television series based on their Halo franchise, hoping to capture the essence of the long-time sci-fi series outside of its usual gaming medium.

The series is currently set to enter production in 2019 with a script written by Kyle Killen (Lone Star) and directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), with both men acting as executive producers. 343 Industries is excited to see the Halo universe presented on television screens, claiming that the show will offer a “new and exciting way for fans to enter and engage with the Halo universe.”

Below is a comment from Devid Nevins, the President and CEO of Showtime;

Halo is our most ambitious series ever, and we expect audiences who have been anticipating it for years to be thoroughly rewarded,

In the history of television, there simply has never been enough great science fiction. Kyle Killen’s scripts are thrilling, expansive and provocative, Rupert Wyatt is a wonderful, world-building director, and their vision of Halo will enthrall fans of the game while also drawing the uninitiated into a world of complex characters that populate this unique universe.

At this time it is unknown where this TV show will be placed within the Halo timeline, as it could easily slot somewhere between Halo Combat Evolved and Halo 5 or perhaps act as a bridge between Halo 5 and 343’s recently announced Halo Infinite, which has been announced for both Xbox and PC.
