Corsair/Elgato reveals their 4K/HDR capable HD60 S capture card

Elgato’s 4K60 Pro MK.2 capture card may be a capable unit (full review here), but it doesn’t come without significant downsides. It’s expensive, supports features that many users don’t need and its internal nature limits portability. Corsair needs something that’s more portable and more affordable for more casual users. This is where the HD60 S comes in. 

While the Elgato HD60 S supports 1080p 60FPS capture, the new HD60 S supports 1080p 60FPS HDR capture and the ability to capture 4K 30FPS gameplay. Beyond that, the HD60 S also supports 4K60 HDR pass-through, which means that video capture will not limit the resolution that can be outputted to your television or monitor. Yes, your PS4 Pro, PC and Xbox One X won’t be limited to 1080p. 

Given its external USB 3.0 setup, the HD60 S can support both Windows and macOS operating systems, with support for XSplit, OBS and Elgato’s own gameplay capture tools. The device comes with a USB Type-C output for power and PC connectivity, an HDMI input and an HDMI pass-through that’s said to offer lag-free operation.  

The long and short of it is that Corsair/Elgato have upgraded their HD60 S to support 1080p HDR, 4K Pass-Through and 4K 30FPS (non-HDR) capture. This new model represents a huge upgrade for game streamers.
