G.Skill breaks the world record for fastest DDR4 memory speed - achieves 5543MHz

It's day 1 of Computex in Taipei, and G.Skill is hosting both the 7th Annual OC World Record Stage and the 5th Annual OC World Cup, where MSI, ASUS, EVGA and ASRock will compete in a Battle Royale to achieve the world's highest DDR4 memory clock speeds.

This competition is conducted using on Intel CPU platforms, Samsung memory components and G.Skill memory modules, with each team fighting to achieve the accolade that is the world's highest memory overclock.

Day-1 has passed, and Team MSI with the overclockers Kovan Yang, Toppc, Wizerty, and Lucky_n00b manages to break the world record for DDR memory speeds, achieving a 5543MHz clock speed under LN2 cooling.

G.Skill has already showcased their memory prowess earlier this year by creating a 5GHz DDR4 memory kit which is capable of running on air cooling, showcasing the limits of DDR4 on standard memory cooling technology.

Today is only day-1 of G.Skill's overclocking extravaganza, with ASUS taking up the reigns tomorrow with hopes to dethrone MSI. On June 7th EVGA will also have a crack at achieving the record and on the 8th ASRock will throw their hat into the ring for their chance for glory. Gigabyte is the only major high-end motherboard brand that is missing from the event.

The DDR4 memory space is advancing quickly, with 3200MHz quickly becoming the new minimum standard for high-end gaming PCs, especially amongst Ryzen users.

G.Skill has always fought to the world's top memory producer, with this latest achievement cementing their overclocking leadership for the time being. The question now is what other DRAM manufacturers will do to surpass G.Skill? We already know Corsair plans to release 4700MHz Vengeance RGB PRO memory in the near future.
