Valve is adding DualShock 4 configuration to Steam
DualShock 4 functionality will be added to Steam in a future update, giving the DualShock 4 the same functionality on Steam as Valve's own Steam controller, making the exact same API calls allowing the Steam API to take care os DS4 controller support in games.
It is Valve's aim to add controller support to Steam for controllers other than Xbox's gamepad and Valve's Steam controller, with Valve working on DS4 controller support first due to the lack of native support in most modern PC titles.
Valve does have plans to support other controllers on PC using the Steam API in the future, making it likely that the Xbox One's Elite controller will gain Steam API support in the near future.
Gaining Steam API support will allow gamers to create custom controls for every steam game, making use of their controller's unique features like the ability to use their built-in gyroscopes and touchpads.
