The WOOTING One Analog Mechanical Keyboard will hit Kickstarter in May
Ever wanted a little more precision control from your keyboard? Want to have more options for WASD than simply on and off? Meet the WOOTING One, the first Analog Mechanical keyboard.
The WOOTING One Analog Mechanical Keyboard will be hitting Kickstarter in mid-May, offering analog mechanical keys to offer better control while gaming.
Can’t wait for the Wooting one? Neither can we, that’s why we’ve got a major announcement to make. We will launch the Wooting one on Kickstarter around mid-May. We’re awaiting the final Wooting one prototype, after we’re able to confirm everything works accordingly, we’ll announce a concrete launch date.
What the WOOTING One offers is a level of control that mechanical keyboards have ever offered before, allowing you to have full 360 control in games by allowing they keys to have more than just simple on/off functionality. The Wooting One knows exactly how far down you have press your keyboard, allowing you to precisely control your movement speed in games.
Analog Input Explained
An ordinary keyboard only has a digital input. This means it sends merely on/off signals. For example, you tap the spacebar once, the PC will think OH ITS ON! and then it’s off. So what if you hold down the spacebar? The PC will just see ON..off ON..off ON..off at a repeated rate.
Analog, however, works differently. Analog means you can send multiple or variable inputs to the PC with a single button. This is very similar to pressing down a trigger button- or joystick (A.k.a thumbstick, analog stick) towards any angle on a controller, it will send different signals based on how far down you’ve pressed it.
The Wooting one can read exactly how far down you’ve pressed a key for analog input. As you can see from the animation above, the further down you press a key, the stronger the signal gets from 0 to 100%.
For gaming, analog input has one very obvious application; you can control your movement speed and turns with the WASD similar to a joystick. Something that has been lacking in PC games for a long time.
This keyboard also offers several replaceable front plates allowing you to have the visual style you want. This keyboard is fully RGB backlit, allowing your keyboard to have the lighting and style that you want.
The company that is making this keyboard is a Dutch company and expects to be able to ship this keyboard worldwide and wants to price this keyboard within the "mid-range" pricing range, though the company has not set a price yet.
At this time, we do not have a firm release date for the Wooting One keyboard, but the developers state that they want to ship this year. We will keep you updated on this keyboard as we learn more.
The developers have stated that they already have the funding to finish the project, but that they wish to look for additional money through crowdfunding at Kickstarter in order to offer more language and software options.

This one should be a Kickstart and get the keyboard in a few months sort of deals, rather than some kickstarters that take a few years.
