Mark Zuckerberg reveals VR glove prototypes

Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of Oculus has revealed the companies VR glove prototypes, which can be used to draw, type on a virtual keyboard and shoot webs like Spiderman.

Right now these VR gloves are in their early prototype stage, requiring a large number of cameras for tracking but coming with a rather small form factor and without any unnecessary bulk. At this time it is hard to tell how much will change if/when Oculus release a final product, as this prototype seems far being consumer ready.

Wearing these gloves, you can draw, type on a virtual keyboard, and even shoot webs like Spider Man. That's what I'm doing here.

Mark Zuckerberg reveals VR glove prototypes

For many years technology enthusiasts have dreamed about VR and the many possibilities that it provides, with so-called "haptic gloves" being the centrepieces of many fictional VR worlds like seen in Ready Player One and other novels.

Outside of gaming, these gloves have a wide range of applications, from providing users with the ability to view and interact with a virtual office to giving medical students and surgeons the ability to use VR for highly interactive training simulations.

While this product is far from a consumer release, it is vert interesting to see inside Oculus what they are creating for future VR users.

While the idea of VR gloves and the possibilities they have are incredible, I can't see them being cheap, that and they will probably be notoriously hard to develop with due to the flexibility and suchQuote

I would think this was impressive if it wasn't for the 10 or so sensors that are clearly needed for the gloves to workQuote
