Elgato/Corsair has officially released their Cam Link 4K recording device, which allows users to stream or record up to a 4K 30FPS or  1080p 60FPS footage using USB 3.0.

Like Elgato’s existing Cam Link, the Cam Link 4K is designed for use with DSLR cameras, or camcorders, allowing users to connect them to their PCs to act as an ultra-high-end webcam on PC or Mac. On the software side, this is supported on OBS Studio, Discord and Skype, as well as other webcam complainant applications.

Creators can also use the Cam Link 4K to make use of advanced image techniques that are not available on standard webcams, utilising the wealth of options that are available on DSLRs such as alternative camera lenses and the ability to achieve wide angle or close up shots without the need for digital zooms or image quality reductions.

Elgato has released an extensive list of supported cameras, which includes equipment from Sony, Nikon, Canon, GoPro and other leading manufacturers. Elgato’s full list is available here.
