Yooka-Laylee Trailer & Release Update

Playtonic Games has released a new trailer for Yooka-Laylee, announcing that the game will be delayed until Q1 2017 from its original release timeframe of October 2016.

The developers have stated that delaying the game was a tough decision, but it will allow them to deliver a better game that will give their Kickstarter backers and future buyers better value.

As well as revealing the first gameplay, this video also confirms that, after long consideration and knowing through dialogue with our backers that they value quality and polish above all, we’ve made the difficult decision to lock the release of Yooka-Laylee to Q1 2017.

While we felt confident we could ship the game in October as originally projected in our Kickstarter, the Playtonic team has decided that it would prefer to add a few extra months’ polish to the game schedule.
Ultimately, this will allow us to deliver a better game to the tens-of-thousands of you who’ve supported us throughout development. And that’s what we all want, right?
We’re sure some will be disappointed by the prospect of a few extra months’ wait, however the team is confident that we’ve made the right decision for the game and that you’ll be pleased with the results when Yooka-Laylee arrives early next year.

This new all-open-world platformer has been designed by a lot of the creative minds behind Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country, leaving many gamers excited to receive a modern take on the Banjo-Kazooie formula with a new set of protagonists and a whole new world.

Yooka-Laylee was successfully funded on Kickstarter in June 2015, raising a total of £2.1 million. This makes Yooka-Laylee the most funded UK games Kickstarter ever and certainly one of the most anticipated games of next year.

Based purely on the premise that this a successful kickstarter UK software developer and my soft spot for the open world platformers I'll be buying this at release, whether it's good or not I'm impressed and all hail Team17! Can we have some back to basics Worms now? or Scorched Earth (great games).Quote
