XFX readies a fanless RX 460 GPU

XFX has created a new fanless variant of AMD's RX 460 GPU, offering 4GB of VRAM and low operating temperatures without the need for a fan.

This new GPU is expected to have idle temperatures of around 33 degrees and load temperatures of 62 degrees, making this GPU cool and completely silent, though load temperatures may be higher or lower depending on your PC's internal airflow.

This GPU uses AMD's Polaris 11 GPU and does not require more than 75W in order to function, allowing this GPU to run without any additional PCIe power outside of the 75W which can be provided by the motherboard.

At this time we do not know if this GPU will be available outside of the Asian market.

A cool idea, glad to see some passive solutions pushing forward. Thanks for the info! Very different looking at the Facebook comments. Lots of 'these passive cards are junk, I oc'ed my past one, ran it under full load for a day and it couldn't keep up with my 980ti'. Always a chuckle reading 'the book'. The comments somehow relating new gen products to the 10 year old dust filled gpu they have...top f*!king notch.Quote

Like both xfx and sapphire did with the r9 250 these little cards are awesome for people who don't need 1080p max settings and also want a quiet pc...

Next step would be however for big OEMs to start using these cards in their prebuilt workstations...

Having a lab full of pcs that have a graphics card with the tiniest of fans spinning at extreme speeds is noisy and annoying.

(Seriously, the graphics cards on these machines are the loudest things, take a Dell Opitplex 70xx and compare the sound levels with and without the graphics cardQuote
