Western Digital re-enters the SSD market with Blue and Green series SSDs
Western Digital's Green series SSD will use a low-end Silicon Motion controller, which features no DRAM cache and deliver sequential read and write speeds of around 540MB/s and 405MB/s respectively. This SSD is intended for budget systems, so this SSD should come with very affordable pricing.
The Blue series of SSDs will come with the same Marvell controller that is used in Crucial's MX300 drive and will use SanDisk made 15-nm TLC flash, offering sequential read and write speeds of around 545MB/s and 525MB/s.
Both Green and Blue series SSDs will come with a 3-year warranty and will release later this quarter.
