Want to build Canals in Cities Skylines? Mod Time!

 

It hasn’t been long since Cities: Skylines received it’s first major expansion, After Dark, and since then the games already vibrant modding scene has moved into overdrive, producing more new content for the game than even the developers had originally expected. 

You can already mod Cities Skylines to make your cities look and feel like your are almost anywhere in the world, with the ability to add real life car models, famous real life monuments and even build Pizza Hut if you desire. 

Until now building something complex like a canal inside your city has been something that has been exceptionally difficult, as is any form of terrain modification is in the game, but now modders have made the process almost as easy as breathing. 

    

In the cities Skylines After Dark expansion land value was increased for waterfront properties, making terrain highly sought after by players, but sadly building parts of your city on the coastline isn’t an option, so how about building a European style canal?

Thanks to the canal block mod collection it is now possible to build a canal, making you city a lot more aesthetically pleasing while at the same time increasing local property value in game. This will allow nearby structures to level up more easily, but the canal will also cost your city a lo of resources to maintain, from power for lighting, money for upkeep and even placing a little more strain on your cites water grid.
