Vive is now shipping immediately from HTC
HTC has announced that all new orders for the HTC Vive will ship within 3 days and can now be ordered in 24 countries. This is in stark contrast to the Oculus Rift, which is still having issues shipping their initial Pre-orders.
Beginning this month the HTC Vive will be demoed at hundreds of locations throughout the US, with a list of demo locations being available on www.vive.com.
The HTC Vive can now be purchased through www.vive.com in 24 countries, shipping within 2-3 business days of purchase.
In addition to online availability from HTC, individuals can now buy the revolutionary Vive virtual reality system in select Microsoft Stores, GameStop and Micro Center locations. Pre-orders placed through these retailers will be fulfilled beginning this week.
It is great to see that HTC has been able to produce enough HTC Vive headsets to keep up with demand, especially when the competing Oculus Rift headset continues to have production issues.

So does this include retail preorders or just direct-from-HTC?

retail pre-orders should start shipping this week, this will depend on the retailer though.
